Foamcube is a cube shaped computer controlled 4-axes CNC machine that can automatically cut intricate shapes out of foam blocks. It features a cutting wire with adjustable temperature control that can move freely along 4 independent axes.
Foamcube is open source and has been in development since februari 2013. It is used by universities, museums, fablabs, schools and workshops around the world.
Foamcube is used by students, modelers, artists, engineers and decorators to build stage decors, prototypes, signage, furniture, pouring molds, architectural models, art, model airplanes and hundreds of other objects.
Foamcube was invented by Pete Scheepens and is still actively developed and supported by a team of lab managers at Fablab013, a digital makerspace in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
